APPLYING　FOR　A LIBRARY CARD

Anyone who lives, works or attends school in Katsushika ward may apply for a library card and borrow materials (books, periodicals, CDs, videotapes, DVDs, etc.) from the library. Those who live in Adachi-ku, Edogawa-ku, Sumida-ku, Koto-ku, Misato-shi, Yashio-shi, Matsudo-shi, and Ichikawa-shi may also apply for a library card and borrow materials from the library.

※Admission free for everyone.

REGISTRATION

When you borrow materials in the library for the first time, you need to fill out a registration form which is offered at the counter and show your valid identification (driver's license, company ID, health insurance certificate, etc.). After your name and address are confirmed, you will get your library card which is issued on the spot. The library card can be used at all public libraries in Katsushika ward.

BORROWING

Please bring your library card and materials to the counter or the automated checkout machine. The number of materials you can borrow is as follows;

  • Book, Periodical:　up to 30 in total
  • CD, Cassette Tape:　up to 4 in total
  • Video, DVD:　total of 1
  • The items can be borrowed for two weeks.

RETURNING

Please bring the items to the counter. You don't need to show your library card. When the library is closed, you may return books and periodicals through the book-return slot near the library entrance. However please don't return audio-visual materials through the book-return slot, because they are easily damaged. You may return materials at all public libraries in Katsushika ward.

OTHER SERVICES

  • Reference Service
    We are pleased to assist you in your research of library materials and in your learning, research and study. Questions may be asked in person, by telephone, on our website, or in writing.
  • Reservation Service
    If the materials you would like to borrow have been checked out, you can reserve them by filling out a reservation form with necessary information. Reservations can also be made by using the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) in the library or from our website.
  • Request Service
    Anyone who lives, works or attends school in Katsushika-ku, and anyone who lives in Adachi-ku, Edogawa-ku, Sumida-ku, Koto-ku can make a request for the purchase of the books. They can also use the interlibrary loan service to borrow or read books which we don't have.
  • Copying Service
    Materials in the library can be copied on our self-service copy machines for personal use. Copying is limited by the copyright law. Less than half of total pages of the items may be copied.
  • Internet Service
    PCs with internet access are available in the library (except for Community Libraries). However, please note that you may not print or save data to any recording media.

SERVICE　ON　INTERNET

You can search materials in the library on our website including mobile-phone web page. If you register the password, you can reserve materials on our website and confirm what items you have borrowed and reserved.
